Thinking About Joining
Let me first express our thanks for your interest in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity located at Central Missouri State University. If you are a student, no matter what year or age and are interested in knowing what fraternity life is like, whether it is right for you or not, this section will hopefully answer most your questions

Brief History of Our Chapter
Our chapter at Central Missouri State was founded in 1992. Since then the chapter has continued to grow tremendously with more than 50 members and is now considered one of the top chapters at Central and a top Alpha Tau Omega chapter nationally. Being a young chapter we are always looking to improve and for new members to help us become even stronger and of course to have a fun time with.

What Being in a Fraternity is Like
Being in a fraternity is much like having a family away from home. A group of friends that enjoys each others company and works together to achieve goals. A place where you find acceptance, encouragement, and brotherhood. Even by joining one fraternity you are accepted into all the fraternities and sororities on campus, like one large community. You become involved in many campus events like Homecoming, Greek Games, all types of intramural events, many other organizations on campus, and adds great experiences to your collage career. Our fraternity is very diverse with members from different religions, races, and locations around the world. Our fraternity is laid back atmosphere and enjoys spending time together. We are a tight group of men who have fun working together to become better than we could as individuals and are proud to be part of Alpha Tau Omega.

How Much Does It Cost?
Our chapter is one of the most affordable fraternities at CMSU to join. Paying your dues allows the chapter to afford social events, Homecoming events, house improvements, intramural, brotherhood events, and much more.Costs per semester for chapter dues and mandatory insurance each semester will be discused in private. And if you feel that are too much, we are always open to work with you. We have payment plans, so you pay throughout the semester, we have fundraisers that can count towards your dues, we give grade discounts, and also we give out scholarships through the chapter and through National Headquarters of Alpha Tau Omega. Don't let the money stop you from doing something you would like to do; we will work with you.

So Basically I am Buying Friends?
Nothing could be further from the truth. The money for dues allows the chapter to pay for intramrual events, Homecoming events, socail events, the chapter formal held once a year, parent's/alumni weekend, and so much more. Basically you become friends with members in the fraternity much like you would if you weren't in a fraternity. By working together and spending time together you begin to realize the good qualties that indivduals have, you start to enjoy their company, and admire what they stand for. It is no different in our chapter. We become friends and brothers by spending time together and admire what qualties each of us contain. Paying money doesn't make you an ATΩ, what makes you a brother is the betterment of yourself, your chapter, and your community.

Will Joining Alpha Tau Omega Hurt My Grades?
No, but at the same time we will not lie to you, there are more distractions. It all depends on you, no different than if you came to school and didn't join Alpha Tau Omega. Our members work hard to receive good grades and the chapter has been above the All Men's Average at CMSU numerous times. It all depends on you. We can't make you study and get good grades. At the same time we are always stressing to our members to make good grades and we will support you academically in anyway that we can. Plus, if the chapter doesn't make grades (above all men's average at CMSU) we are placed on academic probation and many of the awards we like to win we automatically do not met the requirements. The chapter realizes that we are students first and part of Alpha Tau Omega second, we aren't going to do anything to risk your success later in life and will support you in any way.

Do You Haze?
Absolutely not, we will never make you do anything that you are uncomfortable with or don't feel right about. No person in this chapter can emotional, physically, and/or mentally abuse you in any form. Are chapter policy and national policy has no room for interpretations and has never been a problem with are chapter at CMSU.

What Are Some of the Advantages in Joining Alpha Tau Omega?
It is a lot of fun. You have 50 brothers who are fun to hang out with, have for support, or just to be friends with. Being a fraternity we are also involved in many areas around campus and in the community, which will help you get involved and have a successful collage career.
